Record first day crowds at Old Buckenham Air Show
A burst water main couldn’t dampen spirits as record crowds flocked to the Old Buckenham Air Show yesterday.
Around 5,000 aviation enthusiasts descended on the site for the first day of the popular two-day festival.
Airfield manager Matt Wilkins, who is also the show’s organiser, said: “We’ve had a very good day. It’s the biggest Saturday crowd we’ve ever had.”
Visitors were able to enjoy a host of aerial displays, as well as tank and monster truck rides, plus a classic car display and funfair.
However, the show was hit by a burst water main near the site, which meant the field’s new toilet block lost all water pressure.
But Mr Wilkins said: “The public have been very understanding.”
The show continues today when actress Honor Blackman will take to the skies in the helicopter she flew in her most famous role as Pussy Galore in the classic James Bond film Goldfinger
