Sorry Mr Howard, you did not read my letter in detail, although you say you are older than me so this may be why you got a bit confused (Letters, August 4).

Firstly, I did not say I had problems with the Parish Fields Practice, what I did say was we find dealing with the receptionists very difficult. I also didn’t say I had tried queuing before 8.30am. What I did say was that I had been told by a receptionist if I go outside at 8am and wait until the doors open at 8.30am I may get an appointment. This I did not do. I consider this comment to be very unkind, knowing both of us are unable to walk at all without help or use of disability equipment.

I also didn’t say I wanted same-day appointments. We would be happy with next day or next week, if the receptionist would book us an appointment, but I am told this is not possible.

Mr Howard speaks of being able to get three different doctors’ appointments on the same morning with ten possible times. Perhaps he could give the people of Diss details, it would solve a big part of the NHS problem. I don’t think it unrealistic to want to see one’s own doctor.
