Maisie Webb’s hair is currently two feet long. Soon, it will not be.

The seven-year-old from Diss has decided to cut off her hair, which has only ever had the occasional trim, in order to donate it to the Little Princess Trust.

The charity provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young adults, who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Mum Natalie said: “I am so proud of Maisie as I know how much her hair means to her. She understands that there are other little girls out there who don’t have hair like her. It made her very emotional and she’s quite touched by it and that she’s able to help.”

Maisie, who has been nicknamed Rapunzel by her family, has been inspired by family and friends who have donated their hair in the past.

“We showed her how much she would have to cut off. She was a bit unsure at first but she’s more than happy to do it now, although, once it’s cut, I’m sure she will miss it,” said Natalie, who works at Mere Moments.

Maisie will donate 11 inches of the hair many of her friends are envious of.

The Diss Junior Academy pupil said: “I love my hair, it’s just like Rapunzel’s. My baby brother, Archer, loves to play with it and pull it.”

The making of each wig costs the charity around £550, which is why Maisie and her family have decided to also raise some money to contribute to the cost.

A spokeswoman for the Little Princess Trust said: “We are absolutely delighted to hear that Maisie is planning to donate an incredible 11 inches of gorgeous hair.

“It’s such a brave decision to cut off a lot of hair, but we are hugely grateful as we can use Maisie’s donated locks to make real hair wigs.

“Receiving a wig has a profoundly positive effect on those we assist. Thank you so much, Maisie, and thanks to all of Maisie’s supporters.”
