Pub celebrates International Women's Day
A pub is marking International Women's Day with a host of female artists.
The Burston Crown will stage an evening of live music tonight (Friday March 8) to celebrate International Women's Day.
Eight female performers covering indie and folk to rap and spoken word will perform from 7.30 till 11pm with Weird and Wonderful Wood festivals very own Sarah Barker as compere.
Bev Kemberey from The Burston Crown said, "it is really important that we have gender equality in every aspect of life. I want to ensure equal opportunity for my girls and for every daughter out there. The focus for International Women's Day is achieving a gender-balanced world. I have seen a lot of change but there is still a long way to go.
"Everyone has a part to play and on Friday we celebrate the presence of development through these amazing female talents beginning with 14 year old Maisie Mae performing her own original songs through to the truly amazing A.N.G. who has excited us at the pub before with her rap and spoken word".
The performers on Friday are Maisie Mae, Tangles, Niamh, Mary Lovett, Petra Gerard, Lizzie Smith and Rachel Perry and A.N.G.
Bev added, "BalanceforBetter sums this up really. I am a woman, I run a business, we employ amazing female musicians all year round and have amazing female staff and customers and by marking this special day it is our little contribution to making a positive difference for women everywhere"
#BalanceforBetter is the hashtag being used for the day.
