A dance teacher has told of her pride after 17 of her pupils qualified for World Championship Competition.

Lynne Bailey, principal of LK’s School of Dance based in south Norfolk teaching Hip Hop, Street, Disco, Freestyle and Rock ‘n’ Roll, witnessed eight of her dancers qualify for the European Championships to be held in Germany in May, while 17 will compete on the world stage in Glasgow in August following a qualifying event in Peterborough at the weekend.

More may follow, with further events set to take place in Redbridge and Nottingham.

“I cannot tell you how pleased I am,” she said.“In the few years my pupils have been competing the standard is so good now, and to think I am taking them to compete an the European and World Championships is just amazing.

“I’m probably one of the proudest dance teachers around at the moment.”

She added it was important to give her pupils as many opportunities as possible.

Dancers have previously spent time with street dance troupe Diversity, as well as some of the best hip-hop dancers in the country, while some of the group will perform at an under 18s event at Mercy Nighclub in Norwich on Monday, February 15.

“To have them competing against the best in Europe and the World is a fantastic experience,” she said.

“I just want the very best experiences and memories for them. I think it is important for them to make exciting memories to look back on. It also gives them a sense of achievement and teaches them to work as a team.”

Fundraising to help pay for the trip to Germany has begun. For more information, or if you can help, visit www.lksschoolofdance.co.uk or call 07835 021439 .
