Officers were called at 8.56am on Tuesday April 30 after the body of a man was found in the grounds of St Mary’s Church. The man, aged in his 40s, had suffered a head injury.

A Home Office post mortem examination which took place this morning (Wednesday May 1) proved inconclusive and further tests are due to be carried out.

Whilst the death remains unexplained officers do not believe there was any third party involvement, at this stage.

Inspector Laura Symonds, said: "I would like to thank people living and working in the town centre for their patience whilst officers have been conducting their enquiries.”

Anyone who may have been in the area of the churchyard between Sunday April 28 and Tuesday April 30 and may have information which could help officers establish the circumstances leading up to the man’s death should contact Norfolk Police on 101.
