Cherry Tree Vets’ expansion plans see it move to new Victoria Road site in Diss
A popular vet, who is the only registered small animal vet in the African nation of Chad, has moved her practice to a larger site in town to cater for its growing number of clients.
Cherry Tree Vets, which was in Roydon Road, Diss, has opened its new surgery in Victoria Road.
Dr Marie Bouvet, the owner of the practice which also has a branch in Harleston, said she was so pleased to have the keys to the new premises.
“Our previous site was getting a little small as the business was growing,” she said.
“With this one we have more parking and can now see more pet owners at a time.”
As well as more parking, the site now has 17 holding cages with underfloor heating for patients and the practice has separate dog and cat areas in the waiting room.
The business started in 2010 when Dr Bouvet opened Med&Vet in Eye. After her popularity grew, she moved to Diss in 2012 and opened the Harleston surgery in 2016.
The business, which has 11 staff and another vet joining the team next month, offers on-site surgery and diagnostics including digital X-rays as well as a 24/7 emergency line.
“I am very proud of where we, as a team, have got to and I am pleased that we are able to look after more animals with our new place,” said Dr Bouvet.
“We have good relationships with our customers and their pets and that is so important to help both animals who are suffering, as well as helping owners to maintain the best possible life for their pets. None of this is doable without my brilliant team.”
The French-born veterinary surgeon, who qualified in 1995, also does charity vet work in Africa.
“I am the first and only small animal vet registered in Chad,” said Dr Bouvet.
“I enjoy going out to Africa and helping vets there with techniques and I hope to one day set up a surgery out there to help train more.”
The doctor also said she appreciated the support she has had since she started.
“I thank everyone who has come through the doors of my surgeries, because without them I would not be here today,” she said.
