Harleston Ladies Circle brings back Spring Fest and raises thousands

A beautiful day at the weekend saw the return of a town’s family-themed fundraiser.

Harleston Ladies Circle held its Spring Fest for the second time at The Cap pub on May 3.

The event saw Morris dancing, a school choir, musical acts, face painting and music in the evening, all while raising money to help a number of local causes.

Kerrie Foster, vice-chairman of the group, said: “The event went really well. We do not have a total figure yet but we are hoping it will be around the £4,000 mark, which would be better than last year.

“We also had about 300 people that bought tickets on the door, which was amazing.”

To raise sufficient money to put on Spring Fest, the group, which has more than 20 members, has been putting on a series of fundraisers, including a cake sale.

Mrs Foster, who has part of the Ladies Circle for three years, said: “We would like to thank everyone for their continued support, whether that be by sponsoring the event or coming and giving money, or their time, to Spring Fest.

“We would also like to thank The Cap and Ampersand Brewery, who allow us to put on the event.

“We would not be able to do it without everybody coming together and helping us.”

Harleston Ladies Circle, which disbanded in the 1990s, before being revived around five years ago, has been continuing to grow in popularity in the town.

“We are always looking for more members who want to help their community, so, if there is anybody out there wanting to join, please do get in touch,” said Mrs Foster.
