Popular landlords take on their third village pub, The Wortwell Bell

A pair of landlords have announced that they have taken the keys to their third establishment to expand their pub empire.

Justin Arnold and Keighly Marsh, who have run The Half Moon Inn in Rushall since 2021 and The Dickleburgh Crown since July last year have now taken on The Wortwell Bell.

Their new premises, in High Road, has been closed since October.

Miss Marsh said: “We looked at it for ages and we also have a lot of customers from our other other pubs who are from there.

“We were offered the opportunity last month to take it on and it felt like it was the right time to do it.

“No one wants to see pubs in their communities close and I can’t bear to see that either, so that was another reason for us to go for it.”

The pair’s ethos since they took on running their first pub in the area was to give local people local jobs and now with their third they are carrying that on.

“This pub is very similar to our other two, it is a village pub that breathes life into the local area and they are there for the community and further afield to use,” added Miss Marsh.

“In lockdown, it was tricky for all of us to come together and pubs are the perfect places now for people to do that and socialise with others.”

With the two other pubs and a food truck at Thrope Abbotts, this new addition to the company brings something different to the pair’s portfolio.

“For us, The Moon is more of a foodie pub, The Crown is sports pub and The Bell is our more traditional pub with a beautiful beer garden.” said the new landlord.

The pair, who are both 52, are hoping to bring live music and events to The Bell as well as getting a darts team, bringing back the pool table and doing food as well.

Miss Marsh said: “We are so happy to be in The Wortwell Bell, we are looking forward to getting to know all of our new locals and for them to come and spend time with us.

“We are looking to open at the end of the month, so keep an eye on our pub socials for more updates.
