Pools reopen after five months

Swimming pools across mid Suffolk are set to reopen this weekend after being closed for almost five months due to coronavirus.

Mid Suffolk District Council will reopened Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre and Stradbroke Swim and Fitness Centre on Saturday, with swimming lessons set to commence on the same day.

A variety of measures have been introduced across the facilities, including booking in advance for sessions and fewer lessons within the pool at any one time, to allow for both children and swimming teachers to keep a safe distance.

Julie Flatman, cabinet member for communities and housing at the district council, said: “Although a little different than usual, once again you’ll be able to cool off with some swimming, with our partners at Everyone Active continuing to support customers with extra measures in place to keep everyone as safe as possible.”
