Norfolk Police warning after fatal collisions, with cold weather on the way

Norfolk Police are encouraging drivers to take extra care in the coming days, after dealing with three fatal collisions in the county over the weekend and with adverse weather conditions on the way.

The message has been sent out after five people died in the county, with one fatal collision in Shipdham, a second in Elm High Road in Wisbech and a third at North Runcton on the A47 in recent days.

A fourth serious collision resulted in one woman in hospital suffering critical injuries after a collision with a bus.

Early investigations suggest there is no link between the incidents, but the police have taken the opportunity to encourage drivers to take care as Norfolk is due a cold spell with minus temperatures predicted.

Inspector Simon Jones, Norfolk and Suffolk Roads Policing Unit, said: "Firstly, our thoughts are with the family and friends of those who have been affected by these incidents.

“We are carrying out thorough investigations for all four collisions so it would not be appropriate to comment further on those specifically.

“However, we would like to ask people to take extra care as the road conditions worsen and allow plenty of time for their journeys.”
