Police raid in South Lopham discovers village cannabis factory

A morning raid by police yesterday has discovered a cannabis factory in a village.

Beat managers of South Norfolk Police and Neighbourhood Policing Team, as well as officers from Breckland Police, executed a warrant at a property off Thetford Road in South Lopham.

Inside they discovered 150 cannabis plants, double that number in baby cannabis plants, a large quantity of dried drugs and various growing equipment.

South Norfolk Police said in a social media: “Two men were promptly arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

“They were taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre and interviewed, and have both since been charged and remanded into custody.

“We may be heading into spring, but unfortunately that’s not a green light for growing these sort of plants… maybe just stick to daffodils and snowdrops.”
