Police asking for witnesses after spate of car thefts across mid Suffolk

Police are appealing for witnesses after two people were arrested in connection with a spate of car thefts that took place across mid Suffolk this week.

The four offences all occurred overnight between Tuesday, June 15, and the following morning.

In total, three vehicles were stolen – two of which have since been recovered.

Between 10pm and 6am entry was gained to the utility room of a property in Thornham Parva.

The keys to a metallic grey Volkswagen Transporter van were stolen and the vehicle was then taken from off the driveway.

The car was later recovered in Ipswich the following afternoon.

Three further incidents occurred across the region; a silver Volkswagen Golf was stolen from a driveway in Stowmarket; a beige Skoda Fabia, again from a driveway, in Barnham; and people attempted to force entry into a property in Claydon.

All incidents are believed to be connected.

On the evening of Wednesday, June 16, officers arrested a 23-year-old man from the Stowmarket area and a 20-year-old man from Norwich in connection with the offences.

They were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.

Detectives are appealing for any witnesses to these crimes, or anyone who may have seen a Skoda Fabia – the only vehicle which has not yet been recovered.

Anyone with information is asked to contact South CID at Landmark House in Ipswich, quoting reference: 31984/21.
