Police asking for information after man chases teenagers with knife in Harleston

Police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a number of public order offences and an assault in Harleston.

The incident happened when a man police say was in his 30s or 40s approached two teenage boys at the recreation ground, in Wildnerness Lane, on Saturday, July 3.

Following a verbal altercation, the man grabbed one of the teenagers, produced a multi-tool knife and threatened him. The two teenagers then made off.

The man then approached the boys again on his bike in the recreation grounds, when two teenage girls had joined the boys.

The teenagers ran off and the man pursued one of the girls through the London Road exit on his bike. As the teenager reached the JD Youngs Pub on London Road, members of the public intervened and he fled.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the man in the CCTV image, as they believe he could assist with enquiries.

Anyone with information should contact PC Katy Sergeant 101 quoting crime reference 36/47484/21.
