Police appealing for witnesses after man asks 12-year-old to take off top




Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was spotted performing an indecent act in public, before asking a 12-year-old child to take her top off.

At around 11:50am on Wednesday November 4, the man was spotted by the child conducting what police have described as "an indecent act" on a field near to Thorney Green Road, Stowupland.

After noticing the child, the man asked her to take off her top, at which point the child ran home and told her mother, who informed the police.

The incident occurred just before noon on Wednesday last week.

Police said that the man did not attempt to chase the child, but that the incident had caused her "alarm and distress."

The suspect was described as in his late 40s, of a large build, with a grey beard that was described as ‘scruffy’.

They added that he was wearing a blue shirt with stains on.

Suffolk Police are chasing up the incident, and urging anyone with information to come forward, by contacting Stowmarket police, and quoting crime reference number 37/64055/20.
