Plans for Wetherspoons in Diss put on hold due to coronavirus
Plans to build the long anticipated Wetherspoons in Diss have been postponed amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Construction of the £2.7m two-storey pub was due to take place 12 months ago, but was postponed, until late last year when the franchise submitted a licence application.
However, due to the chaos caused by the coronavirus outbreak, plans have been put on the back burner ‘until everything gets back to normal’.
The pub, which is planned to be built in Kings Head Yard, off Mere Street, is to feature a mezzanine level and a balcony with views across the Mere.
Eddie Gershon, who runs media relations for the pub chain, said: "Put simply, all new pubs are on hold until everything gets back to normal, whenever that might be."
