Plans for Pure Gym at Original Factory Shop in Diss

A Norfolk town could soon have a new gym under plans to revamp a former discount store.

Plans lodged with South Norfolk Council reveal a Pure Gym could be opening at the site formerly home to the Original Factory Shop in Diss.

The discount retailer closed last year after more than a decade in the town and the site has sat empty since.

However, the new proposals could see the gym chain bring a new lease of life to the area in Victoria Road.

The Original Factory Shop had been trading in Diss since 2012 selling discounted homeware, furniture and toys.

It announced its closure in December 2023 as representatives for the branch said the decision about its future had been taken “out of their hands”.

Pure Gym has now lodged an application with South Norfolk Council to install signs with its own branding at the site.

The plans show the chain is only seeking to take on part of the unit with the potential for another company to move in alongside.
