Hardy dogs and owners take on annual Fressingfield New Year’s Day walk
Dogs of all shapes and sizes took on an annual New Year’s Day walk.
The Fressingfield event saw owners and their canines follow a five-mile route, with the walk in aid of the Harleston and Diss Guide Dog Fundraising Group.
Group member Jill Bussien said people were not put off by the wet and windy conditions, which saw a hailstorm descend halfway through the walk.
“People still came out with their dogs and made the best of it,” she said. “Everyone was soaked to the skin by the time they got round, but they still all enjoyed it.”
The walk, which raised more than £350, started at the Swan pub, with staff giving out free soup and rolls to the walkers.
“So many people get involved with the walk, from villagers, who put out signposts, to the Fressingfield Shed, whose members repair and repaint them,” said Mrs Bussien. “It is such a community event.”
“I’d like to pass on my heartfelt thanks to everyone who turned up and helped on the day.”
