Starston Fete: From bees to games, evet creates a buzz as villagers connect
A fete to help a £16,000 project at a village church has been hailed a huge success.
Villagers turned out to support Starston Church Fete, raising around £1,600 in the process to go towards new heaters for St Margaret’s Church.
Church warden Julian Taylor, who helped to organise the event, said it had been a great turnout for such a small community.
“Out of around 320 people in the village, we probably had more than 200 come to the fete, which just shows the great community spirit we have here,” he said.
“We would like to thank all those that helped set up of the fete, those that baked and everyone who contributed to making it a success.
“We also need to thank three people who very kindly paid for children under 12 to have their barbecue for free. This shows the commitment in the village to making sure everyone can support events like this.”
The fete brings the total amount raised to more than £11,000.
