Part of the mainline which serves the Diss Express area is set to be closed for 10 weekends, starting next month.

Network Rail have announced ten consecutive weekends of upgrade works between London Liverpool Street and Shenfield, which forms part of the Norwich to London route which passes through Diss, beginning on February 6 and 7.

During these weekends, rail replacement services will be in operation and passengers are advised to check before they travel.

A Network Rail spokesperson said the works would provide new overhead wiring and upgrades to the line.

“There is never a good time to close the railway, but these upgrades are vital to delivering our Railway Upgrade Plan and the enormous benefits that it will bring, including more reliable and more frequent services,” they added.

“We’d like to thank passengers for their patience and understanding while we carry out these works.”
