Park Radio celebrates third birthday

The managing director of a community radio station has thanked listeners and local authorities for their support as the broadcaster approaches its third anniversary this month.

Park Radio, which is based at the Diss Youth and Community Centre in Shelfanger Road, issued a thank you to those who had “bent over backwards” to help after what had been a particularly turbulent year.

On Monday, veteran DJ Chris Moyse told listeners: “Although we can’t celebrate in the usual fashion this year, and despite the very real and sometimes quite stark reality that Covid-19 has presented, Park Radio has reached yet another milestone – our third anniversary.

“We couldn’t have reached this point without the support of you, the listener, our many advertisers and the local councils who have bent over backwards to help our survival.

“And, of course, the 42 hard-working volunteers, who give up so much time, both on and off the air, so that we can provide the best local radio service we feel people deserve across Diss, Harleston and Eye.”

Despite being set up in 2010, the station only began broadcasting around the clock in December, 2017.
