One person believed to have died as train hits vehicle in Palgrave

One person is believed to have died after a train hit a vehicle on a level crossing in Palgrave, near Diss.

Greater Anglia services between Norwich and London have been cancelled after the incident which happened at around 6.40pm.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said it happened at Palgrave Level Crossing and that one person is believed to have died.

The spokesman, said: "Due to a train hitting a vehicle at a level crossing, train services between Liverpool Street and Norwich are being disrupted.

"Customers are advised not to travel to Liverpool street to Norwich, and Norwich to Liverpool Street.

"All Intercity services are suspended until further notice."

The emergency services and the Network Rail response team have arrived at the scene and are conducting investigations.

Rail replacement buses are being sourced to operate between Ipswich and Diss and a shuttle train service between Diss and Norwich.

Liverpool Street to Ipswich services will still be operating."

Lower Rose Lane is closed from just beyond the rail to enable emergency services to survey the scene

Fire crews from Norfolk and Suffolk and Urban Search and Rescue are also in attendance.
