Norfolk schools discover road safety through magic
The magician behind a long-running county council road safety awareness show says he is ‘always impressed’ by how well pupils respond to the issues discussed, following a recent tour of south Norfolk primary schools.
Tivetshall and Scole Primary Schools welcomed local entertainer Olly Day for special educational shows on Wednesday, following his appearances at Dickleburgh and Harleston Primary Schools prior to the half-term break.
Mr Day, who has been running these events at schools on behalf of Norfolk County Council for 21 years, said he felt the show always ‘hit the mark’ with schoolchildren.
“It’s a great way of learning with laughter,” he told the Diss Express.
“It’s about having fun, but in a serious way. We talk about very serious things in the shows, like dealing with head injuries and being lit when cycling at night.
“We get some great comments from the children. They respond very well and they have some very interesting things they come back with.
“It’s amazing how much the children remember from the show, even after six months have passed.”
