Norfolk Fire and Rescue staff from Diss and Harleston honoured at awards bash

Fire crew members and cadets from Diss and Harleston were recognised at this year’s Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service Awards.

The annual awards recognise the efforts of fire fighters, fire staff, trading standards staff, their friends and families as well as community partners and volunteers in Norfolk.

A total of 29 staff received certificates or medals for 20, 30, 35, and 40 years’ service – with 735 years between them.

There were long service and good conduct medals for Mark Webster, Craig Keeley and Paul Leeder, of Diss Station, and Daniel Jefferson, of Harleston Fire Station, while Ricky Eakers, of Diss Cadet Unit, took home the Cadet of the Year award.

Scott Norman, deputy chief fire officer at Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, said: “Our fire service and trading standards community plays a crucial role in keeping Norfolk safe, so it is an honour to be able to recognise the huge achievements from over the last year.

“My sincere congratulations go to all the winners and nominees.”

Margaret Dewsbury, Norfolk County Council cabinet member for communities and partnerships, also gave her congratulations to everyone involved.

She added: “It has been wonderful to hear the incredible stories.”
