New president at the helm of rotary club
Diss Waveney Rotary Club formally welcomed its new president last week, as Danny Ward handed over the reins to Beverley Blake for the coming year.
The new president, who has been a rotarian for six years, will take up her new position on Wednesday.
Admitting that many challenges lay ahead, Ms Blake highlighted the Rotary’s motto of ‘service above self’ and said the club would continue to help its community however it can.
She said: “The members of Diss Waveney Rotary Club have a wealth of skills and experience which will enable us to respond to the impact of the pandemic on the local community in practical and financial ways.
“We are ready to adapt to new challenges and look forward to engaging with more projects and opportunities to serve.
“As soon as we are able, we will be continuing our fundraising events and we look forward to your continued support.”
Rotary was founded by Paul Harris, a Chicago attorney, in 1905, to enable professionals with diverse backgrounds to exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships.
