Mr Welch, who worked in the Royal Air Force for 25 years, moved to Diss four years ago after being stationed at RAF Honington.

He was previously involved with the supporters’ trust of Kettering Town Football Club.

Mr Welch said his wish “to give back to the community and to help local people” were his main reasons for wanting to be a councillor.
