New grant scheme opens for businesses in South Norfolk
South Norfolk Council has announced that the application process for the Government’s Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) is now open.
Administered by district councils, the ARG is a one-off discretionary grant scheme for qualifying businesses that are not covered by other grant schemes due to not being rated or not legally required to close.
South Norfolk Council will provide the funding in two phases and the application window for the first phase ends at midnight on December 23.
The council was quick to remind businesses that do not meet the eligibility criteria that they may be able to receive support during phase two, which will open by February 2021.
Lisa Neal, cabinet member for economy on South Norfolk Council, said: “Supporting businesses through these tough times is vital and we are committed to doing everything we can to make sure they can recover in the weeks and months to come.”
Local Restrictions Support Grants (LRSG) are also still available to businesses that were required to close by law during the lockdown between November 5 and December 2. So far, the council has awarded more than £1 million in grants to support local businesses across the district.
