Concert to help raise funds to repair Rickinghall church's roof

A concert is being held to raise crucial funds to repair the roof of St Mary’s Church, Rickinghall Inferior.

Like many other historic churches in the region, St Mary’s is in urgent need of repairs, which are estimated to cost around £80,000.

The chancel roof needs substantial work, both inside and out, to ensure the building is watertight, while ageing guttering and drains need to be replaced.

To help with the cost of the work, music trio Hexachordia and The Shakespeare Singers have stepped in to offer a fundraising concert.

The audience will be treated to Shakespeare-themed music and songs, with the choir will perform two pieces composed by Tony Scheuregger, Hexachordia’s lutenist.

Music for a Summer Evening will take place in St Mary’s Church, Rickinghall Inferior, on August 10 at 6pm.

Admission is free of charge, with a retiring collection in aid of the church’s fabric fund.
