A group in Harleston has started to plan the restoration of the mound in the town’s recreation ground, as well proposing to build a new skate park.

A clairvoyance evening has also been organised by the Play and Recreation Association in a bid to raise enough funds for the project. Tons of soil is set to be brought in to bolster up the side and slides, while wooden steps to the top will be reinstated and a seating area will be built.

Any extra funds from the event will go towards the next proposed project - a skate park.

Caroline Miller, a member of the group, said: “Scooters, skateboards and roller-skates are all very popular within our town and it is becoming a problem that these young children and teenagers have nowhere safe to ride and use them. Many complaints have been received about them riding around the car parks of Harleston and indeed, residential areas. Although the Play and Recreation Association’s last project was to extend and restore the bike track on the Rec, this unfortunately does not cater for these individuals.”

An Evening of Clairvoyance with Fiona Nichols will take place on Friday April 4 at the Apollo Rooms in Harleston at 7pm. Tickets in advance can be purchased for £7.50 from The Card and Party Shop in Harleston, or at the venue for £8.00.
