An Eye-based motorsport electronics firm has been awarded a multi-million pound contract with two major defence manufacturers to build systems for a new vehicle that will be used by the British Army.

Renvale Ltd has been awarded a contract worth £10 million to supply CAN-node electro-mechanical boxes for the British Army’s new Boxer vehicles – and said the deal will create a further 15 jobs in the town.

As part of the Ministry of Defence’s Mechanised Infantry Vehicle programme, Renvale will be sourcing materials, including sub-assemblies, and managing the supply chain to enable extensive assembly and inspection for the Boxer vehicles over the next 10 years.

The work will be completed at Renvale’s HQ in Renvale Technology Park in Eye Road, which employs around 50 staff.

The contract will provide further growth, creating 15 new positions, including up to 12 apprentices and an additional support team, who will be recruited locally and receive intensive training within the company.

On announcing the news, Anthony Moss, chief operating officer at Renvale, said: “As an SME designing and manufacturing advanced electrical and electromechanical assemblies, we set our sights and objectives on applying our advanced capabilities on diversification into other sectors and programmes as significant as Boxer.

“Working closely with our strategic partners for support with supply chain and technology transfer, we have been on an exciting five-year journey to reach this position.

“This formal award is a real milestone for our team and one we are immensely proud of.

“We are super excited about the future and where our collaborations and connections will take us.

“Our key contacts at Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land have been and continue to be a pleasure to partner and work with; relationships are everything to us. Long may these continue to grow and prosper.”
