More than 170 Hapton residents lose power as tractor crashes

More than 170 residents in Hapton lost power after a tractor crash brought down cables on Tuesday.

The incident, in Holly Lane, was reported to Norfolk fire and Rescue Service at about 8.43am, who attended and made the scene safe before handing over to UK Power Networks.

A spokesperson for the company told the Diss Express: “UK Power Network’s engineers worked as quickly and safely as they could to restore power to 178 customers in the Holly Lane area of Hapton, Norfolk on Tuesday following third party damage to our overhead electricity network.

“Customers would have seen an interruption to their power supply at 8.50am but were restored in stages with 171 customers having their electricity back at 10.35am and the final seven customers affected restored at 2.55pm.”
