More than 1,000 items were dropped off at South Norfolk Council’s latest Reuse and Recycle event at Diss Youth and Community Centre.
On the day, 496 items were taken home by residents to be reused, 484 electrical items were recycled, and nearly six tonnes of goods were diverted from ending up in the bin.
South Norfolk Councillor Kay Mason Billig, Cabinet Member for Environment and Recycling said: “It’s fantastic that so many local people support these events and bring along such a variety of things to be reused or recycled.”
The event also raised £399 for the Chairman’s charity from donations.
South Norfolk Council say their events of the past five years have prevent almost 130 tonnes of materials from ending up in landfill.
