A man has been seriously injured in a hit and run in the early hours of this morning, Friday May 13.

Officers were called at around 1.42am to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle, which failed to stop, in Bridge Street, Bungay.

The pedestrian – a man thought to be in his 40s and from the Bungay area – sustained serious injuries and was initially taken to the Norfolk and Norwich hospital. He has now been transferred to Addenbrookes with multiple injuries including a fractured pelvis and fractured ribs.

The vehicle involved failed to stop at the scene and an in depth and comprehensive investigation has begun to trace this vehicle.

Officers are appealing for the driver to get in contact immediately and are also asking anyone who may have information about the incident – who may have seen the collision or who may have details about the vehicle or driver – to call the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Suffolk Police on 101, quoting CAD number 20 of today, May 13.

Police are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen any vehicle that was not damaged yesterday but may be damaged today.
