Man charged and four bailed following burglary series investigation




A man has been charged and four other people have been bailed in connection with a series of burglaries in Mid Suffolk and South Norfolk.

Officers from Diss, Stowmarket and Ipswich executed search warrants across five locations in Wortham, Stowmarket, Ipswich and Barham yesterday(Wednesday 8 July) and arrested four men and one woman.

The warrants follow a seven-month investigation into a series of burglaries, going under the name Operation Askham.

The five individuals were all arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

John Smith, 30, from Stowmarket, was subsequently charged with attempted burglary and was released on bail. He is due to return to police on Thursday, July 30.

The three other men – aged 49, 60 and 42 – and the woman aged 48 – were also released on bail and are due to return on the same date.
