South West Norfolk MP Liz Truss believes Theresa May can be the “strong” and “serious” leader the country needs to ensure Britain gets the best EU exit possible.
She had previously backed Boris Johnson to be the next Prime Minister, but he pulled out of the race on Thursday.
Ms Truss added that Ms May would “champion social reform.”
Central Suffolk and North Ipswich MP Dr Dan Poulter revealed earlier today on Twitter he is backing Andrea Leadsom for the Prime Minister post. He too had initially backed Mr Johnson for the role.
Other contenders include Michael Gove, Liam Fox, and Stephen Crabb.
Prime Minister David Cameron announced he would step down by the autumn following the result of the EU referendum.
