The naïve and scaremongering tactics of Dame McCall of EasyJet and others, regarding the Brexit danger to UK tourists, beggar belief; they choose to ignore totally, the economic and commercial facts of life that have existed for centuries.
If the cost of air travel increases, with a resultant loss of volumes, this will adversely affect profits in tourist destinations in Europe, therefore, to continue to attract visitors, such venues will in turn reduce prices to compensate.
Will EasyJet mothball a sizeable proportion of their expanding fleet? Of course not, they can’t afford to have even a small proportion of their fleet grounded and will adapt to ensure they remain competitive.
To suggest tourists could be put at risk by leaving EU is equally risible, to protect the valuable tourist trade it would surely be in the country’s own interests to ensure the safety of visitors?
What Dame McCall is actually doing, like many MPs, is selfishly only concerned with her own interests and not the overall benefits to the citizens of the UK for Brexit. It is ironic that a number of the same business leaders and politicians who wish us to remain in the EU, originally wanted us to join the Euro. Their motives are plain to see.
Thank goodness we have a local MP, Richard Bacon, who has honesty and integrity, and can see the bigger picture.
