LETTER - ‘Roadworks added to Victoria Road madness’
I was amazed when I realised that the road works currently being undertaken on Victoria Road were to provide a pedestrian crossing some 50 yards from the controlled crossing at the Mere Street junction.
Was the person who thought up this nonsensical idea not aware that there is already a hazard whenever a bus arrives at the terminus and people, many of whom are of my vintage and as lame, attempt to cross the road directly, whatever the traffic density.
To add to this is madness in the extreme.
If it was the intention to make the area safer, then a barrier from the terminus exit to the controlled crossing at Mere Street would have been both a better and more logical solution.
