LETTER - ‘My father’s sacrifice has been squandered’
Readers may recall my letter (Where’s the care, January 8) regarding the absence of ‘care in the community’ support for my 90-year-old father, who requires regular blood transfusions, suffers from dementia and has a catheter.
My 85-year-old mother struggles to attend to him having just lost the sight of an eye.
It’s now January 17 and still no carers are available.
It appears to me the sacrifices my father’s generation made for this country have been squandered and our welfare state is now collapsing.
