LETTER: Apollo Club in Harleston could have been protected

I do have sympathy with Barry Woods with the loss of the Apollo Club building, which, under the Localism Act, could have been protected more if it was possible to have it listed as an asset of community value (We’re not here to fight, we just want to be listened to, Diss Express, October 11).

Here in Long Stratton, we have a building which is a community asset.

The community, at a public meeting, wanted to retain its use as a community resource directed by a partnership arrangement, possibly by a people’s council.

As a researcher into self-help structures, I did put in a request to the council to study this possibility with the residents. I’ve received no reply to date.
