Your article (Unexpected boost for pool project, January 15) about the Debenham swimming pool project took me back to the 1990s when I was living in Harleston.

I remember wanting to go swimming and heard that the high school pool had public use. I looked into it but it was a while before I could get in a session as places were limited.

This was fine for me, but I was told that the Harleston residents were unhappy as they had put in a lot of effort to raise funds and donations to the project to build a pool for public use, but being built on school land there was no day time access to it and had limited public use.

In fact a lot of those who raised money and donated had never used it. I do hope that this will not be the case with the Debenham pool.
