Police inspector calls for vigilances following release of latest crime statistics

The police inspector for south Norfolk said the force is taking action against a series of crimes and has called for vigilance from the public.

Jason Selvarajah said: “We have seen our village halls, social clubs and community centres targeted across the area. Some have been broken into and property stolen.”

He added that an arrest had been made, but continued to ask for vigilance from communities in the area.

“The beat managers have started to carry out cycle patrols, which makes them more visible within your communities,” said Insp Selvarajah, who was talking following the release of the latest crime statistics.

Harleston, Earsham and Beck Vale: anti-social behaviour - 4; burglary, business and community - 2; business, residential - 2; criminal damage - 2; domestic 4; race or religious aggravated public fear - 1; possession of controlled substance - 1; public fear, alarm or distress - 2.

Newton Flotman: burglary, residential - 1.

Scole and Dickleburgh: criminal damage - 1; possession of controlled substance - 1; public fear, alarm or distress - 2.
