Last-minute deal agreed to save Harleston Pool
A swimming pool, which had been earmarked for closure, has been saved and will reopen later this month.
After a determined campaign to save Harleston Pool, Water Lilies Swimming School has secured a tenancy, ensuring the pool will continue to serve the local community.
Based at Harleston Sancroft Academy, the facility will reopen its doors on April 22.
Teresa Griffin, company director at swimming school, said: “Swimming is a vital life skill, and we are thrilled to have secured the future of Harleston Pool.
“This has been a long and challenging journey, and none of this would have been possible without the incredible support of Harleston Sancroft Academy’s staff and the Diocese of Norwich Multi Academy Trust.
“We are committed to keeping this facility open for the community and are excited to be expanding the services we offer.”
Rob Connelly, headteacher at Harleston Sancroft Academy, said the school was delighted that the pool had been saved.
He added: We are incredibly thankful for the work that Teresa and her team have undertaken.
“We fully recognise the importance of this community facility and are confident that, under the new arrangements, children and adults will continue to benefit from its use for the foreseeable future.”
