James Ready Guitar Emporium opens in Diss striking a chord with customers
A professional musician, who has toured the world as part of a band, has put down roots in his home town by launching a guitar shop.
The James Ready Guitar Emporium launched in Diss last month, offering a selection of electric and acoustic guitars, as well as amplifiers, strings and other accessories.
Since opening in No.8 Marketplace, the business has enjoyed a busy start to life – buoyed by Christmas.
Mr Ready, who lives in Viscount Close in the town, said the concept for the business came about by chance.
“I have been doing guitar lessons for about 14 years, including work within locals schools,” he said.
“I had a meeting with members of Diss Heritage Trust at the end of October, initially looking at my work as a tutor.
“As talks progressed, we all felt that the town needed something different and, with my experience, a guitar shop ticked all the boxes.
“I opened at the start of December and sales have been really good – largely thanks to Christmas.”
The 31-year-old musician, whose skills have allowed him to travel the world with various bands, said it felt good to put down some roots.
“Although I love touring and giving lessons, the shop is very exciting for me,” he told the Diss Express.
“It’s nice to offer something that perhaps people haven’t seen before and, judging by the sales in December, people have really taken to it.”
The guitarist hopes to offer tuition in the shop, as well as guitar set-ups and other services in the future.
“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that has come in so far, to have a chat or to buy something,” he said.
“It means a lot that the community is supporting this as it is good fun and I am really enjoying it.”
James Ready’s Guitar Emporium is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays, between 10am and 4pm.
