A recently-qualified foot practitioner from Billingford is on a mission to educate people about the importance of caring for their feet.

Melanie Johnson, 46, has set up a mobile foot health clinic called Natural Foot Care.

"Feet are often uncared for and we tend to neglect them," explained Mrs Johnson.

"A lot of what goes on in the rest of our bodies can show in the condition of, and problems with, our feet.

"It's a case of education – a lot of people don't realise that various factors, from the shoes you wear to moisturising, can prevent a lot of problems with your feet.

"I want to help prevent these problems getting to the point where people require a lot of care."

Mrs Johnson studied at Stonebridge Associated College in Birmingham, before qualifying last month.

She believes her mobile clinic, which will serve south Norfolk and north Suffolk, is an ideal service for rural areas.

"These services may not be available in smaller villages and elderly people may find it difficult to get into towns and cities to receive foot health care," she said.

"So, taking the service out into these areas would be beneficial to them and it also provides another point of contact for elderly people."
