Eye play area opened in ribbon-cutting ceremony
A hugely improved play area was officially opened in Eye at the weekend – much to the excitement of children.
The area, which has been under construction for several weeks, was opened to the public on Saturday by James Caston, chairman of Mid Suffolk District Council, and town mayor Johnnie Walker.
Eye Town Council replaced the old worn-out equipment at Oak Crescent Park, with a new play area for under-12s.
A new adventure fitness trail for anyone over the age of six is also being installed, along with a small football practice area, picnic tables, benches and improved fencing.
In November, the council voted unanimously for the play area upgrade as part of its priority plan to provide better facilities and support for children and young people in the town.
It has also set up a youth council with local young people to help take forward similar projects in the future.
