It’s on your marks, get vet, go for Harleston pair taking on marathon challenge For EAAA

A pair of work colleagues from a veterinary practice are set to take on a walking marathon in aid of charity that was life saving for one of their relatives.

Clinical director Trudy Musgrove and head nurse Stacey Remblance, from Oakwood Vets in Harleston, will take on the 26-mile journey on May 11, to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

The charity is very close to Ms Remblance’s heart after the service came to the aid of her father, Robin, when he suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed in the street three years ago.

The air ambulance team administered emergency treatment until he was stable enough to be taken to hospital.

Alison Munford, the practice’s manager, said the whole team was behind the pair as they attempt to raise as much money as possible.

She said: “It is thanks to the amazing work by the air ambulance team that Stacey’s dad, and many other people who have received lifesaving treatment, are still here.

“The majority of our team will be getting involved and those who will not be walking will be providing support to the hikers by giving out drinks, snacks and encouragement along the way.”

Their route will take them from the Fuller Road practice, along the Waveney Valley to Bungay, then back to Harleston passing through Weybread, Fressingfield, Metfield, South Elmham, Earsham, Flixton and Wortwell.

To aid their fundraising efforts, Vetpartners, the umbrella group for the practice, has pledged to match whatever is raised.

Mrs Mundford said: “East Anglian Air Ambulance relies on public donations to operate and every penny we raise will count.

“An air ambulance team goes to someone’s aid an average of eight times each day, and every flight they make costs in the region of £3,500.”

To donate, there is a collection box in the practice. Alternatively, go online to justgiving.com and search for ‘oakwoodvetsqrcode’.
