Diss Ukulele Day returns to The Corn Hall in St Nicholas Street today
Diss Ukulele Day is tuning up for its return — bringing a full day of live music, workshops and performances celebrating the small but mighty four-stringed instrument.
The event, which has been a popular day in the town’s cultural calendar since 2018, takes place today at The Corn Hall in St Nicholas Street.
Organised by ukulele player Peter Arnold, from Bressingham, the festival is set to draw musicians and fans from across the region.
Peter said: “Ukulele music is incredibly inclusive – whether you’re playing or singing along, it brings people together.”
The day kicks off at 11.30am with The Big Sing, led by local group Silver Linings.
Attendees will gather in the main hall for a mass singalong, with lyrics projected on a large screen so everyone can join in.
Later in the afternoon, from 2pm to 4.30pm, a series of ukulele workshops will take place inside the Corn Hall, welcoming players of all abilities to sharpen their skills or try something new.
An open mic session is scheduled for 5pm in the Corn Hall courtyard, offering solo acts, duos and small groups a chance to perform.
The festival will conclude with an evening concert at 7.30pm featuring three live acts. Headlining are The Hedge Inspectors, a well-loved acoustic duo from Hampshire.
Joining them on stage will be Silver Linings and Daisy & The Continentals, rounding out a line-up that organisers say offers something for everyone.
Tickets and more information can be found on the Corn Hall’s website.
