Man who stole cash from Stradbroke food van wanted by police




An appeal has been launched to find a man who robbed a food van by threatening the occupants with a gas canister and a lighter.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place in Stradbroke on Tuesday, between 8pm and 8.10pm, in Church Street near the cemetery.

A male approached a food van, opened the front passenger door, threatened occupants with a gas canister and lighter and demanded cash.

The victims in the van, three women, handed over a small quantity of cash. The offender demanded more money and made a failed attempt to light the cannister.

When the victims shouted for help the offender fled the scene. The victims were unhurt.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, saw any suspicious behaviour or has dashcam footage should contact 101 and quote crime number 37/59029/24.
