Author launches book - Needham: History of a Norfolk Village – following research on own home

A history book on Needham, which marks the culmination of six years of research, has been released.

Stephen Jeffery-Poulter talked about and signed copies of his book, Needham: History of a Norfolk Village at St Peter’s Church on Saturday.

The book charts the village’s growth from a Roman settlement in the 1st century to the end of the Victorian period.

Mr Jeffery-Poulter said: “The book started when I moved to the village seven years ago, into a cottage which was 17th century.

“Having written a number of local history books when I was in Hertfordshire, I started to look into my own home but it quickly became Needham as a whole, which has been fascinating.

“The most exciting thing for me has been being able to tell the stories of ordinary people.”

Mr Jeffery-Poulter will give a talk at St John the Baptist Church on March 20 at 2pm. Copies of the book will be available on eBay and Amazon by the end of the month.
