A Home Office post mortem examination will take place today after the body of a man was found in Diss.

Officers were called at 8.56am on Tuesday to reports the body had been found in the grounds of St Mary’s Church.

The man, who is believed to be in his 40s, had suffered a head injury.

Detective Inspector Lewis Craske said: "A Home Office post mortem examination is due to take place today and whilst we are treating the death as unexplained at this time I would urge anyone who may be able to assist with our enquiries to contact police.”

"Our enquiries are ongoing to try and establish the exact circumstances leading up to the his death."
